Kathryn Rodrigue

Are you ready to discover the unique therapy of baking and embrace a life that truly can be sweet?

FAQs

  • The intake is booked and charged separately to ensure a chance for us to get to know each other and for you to decide what services are the right fit. I am also available for free 15 minute phone consultations. Please feel free to book a consultation to discuss your needs.

  • No problem! I offer talk therapy and Accelerated Resolution Therapy sessions both in person in the office or virtually. I’m happy to work with you in whatever way is comfortable for you.

  • In a Life Can Be Sweet session, I will be supporting you to learn not only a new hobby or interest but will pair each recipe with therapeutic skills and ideas. These will be skills you can use in your day-to-day to support your wellbeing and mental health. We will still be engaging in therapeutic conversation but it won’t be your typical sit down and talk for an hour interaction!

If you’ve heard of walk and talk therapy or noticed you have great heart to hearts with your loved ones while driving, I aim to create a similar environment of ease. If any consistent themes seem to be occurring there may also be opportunity for us to use Accelerated Resolution Therapy to work through these stuck points.

  • I have been a hobby baker my entire life and use baking in the same ways I will be teaching you. I have taken Wilton Cake Decorating courses and a variety of cookie decorating courses. I have also taken the Alberta Food Safety Basics course through Alberta Health Services.

  • When you have decided to sign up I will send you a checklist of the tools we will need every week. You will let me know what you have access to and I will provide the rest! This way you don’t have to invest in supplies you might not use if you decide baking isn’t for you. If you choose to do baking sessions virtually, I will ensure we can bake a recipe using equipment you do own.

For the ingredients, you will be responsible for purchasing what we need each week. I will send you the recipes ahead of time to give you time to prep.

  • We can discuss any allergies and intolerances on intake to ensure the recipes are safe for you.

  • The first option is that we bake at your house. My hope is that this will help increase accessibility and help you to relax and enjoy yourself in a safe space for you. You will also develop familiarity with your kitchen and your equipment should you decide to continue baking on your own. Don’t worry about feeling like you have to be a host to me or have an immaculate home, I am here to meet you where you’re at.

The second option is virtual baking sessions where you bake in your home and I bake in mine while we chat over video call.

The final option is to do a baking session in an office environment. In the office we will be using an air fryer to make our yummy treat. I might send you home with some of the recipe ingredients to finish baking at home.

We can discuss which option is best for you in a free 15 minute phone consultation or in our intake session.

  • I am passionate about working with women and the unique issues that we face. I want to empower women to learn a new skill that may be traditionally associated with femininity but to use it in a way that makes them feel strong and confident.

I do hope to expand offers for service at a later date.

  • It will be required that there is at least one guardian at home with you while we have our session. This is for your safety since we are working with items in the kitchen. You and your guardian can decide where it makes sense for them to be during the session such as on another level of the house if there is one or out in the yard if you have one (and its nice out!). This does mean that I will not be able to guarantee your full privacy in session as your guardian could overhear.

We could have your guardian be present in the kitchen if you like but we won’t be conducting family therapy.

Regardless of where your guardian spends time during the session you and I will always chat about what updates you want to provide them at the end.

  • I am a registered psychologist and most of the insurance plans that cover mental health care should cover services provided by a registered psychologist. Please check with your benefit provider before signing up to ensure there will be no billing concerns as I will not be able to provide refunds if your insurance does not cover my services.
